Chloroalkyl functional silane. Used mainly as a synthesis intermediate for other functional silanes — the chlorine is displaced to build amino, mercapto, azido and quaternary ammonium silanes — and as a coupling agent in specialty systems. Releases methanol on hydrolysis.
